essentially it’s a writing tool which grays out everything on the screen except what you are (meant to be) writing :p

over at macheist they are giving away $25 writeroom licenses for free at the moment as well as this other very useful piece of software called shovebox. it is part of a macheist package called nano which also contains some other not so useful software. but hurry! the deal is only for another 4 days. there seems to be no catch :)

update : having discovered that writeroom is now also available in an iphone version i am closer than ever to finally purchasing such a machine.

desktop landscapes #93 : other

desktop landscapes #93 : other

let's move to ... stourbridge

let's move to ... stourbridge

The ArtReview Power 100

The ArtReview Power 100:
damn. i didn’t make it into the art review power 100 again. but wait … maybe i could feature on hyperallergic’s Top 20 Most Powerless People in the Art World! yep. there i am at number one!! and so are you. and you, and you probably. do you feel better?

"

The study, authored by Professor Joseph Forgas at the University of New South Wales, shows that people in a negative mood were more critical of, and paid more attention to, their surroundings than happier people, who were more likely to believe anything they were told. “Whereas positive mood seems to promote creativity, flexibility, cooperation, and reliance on mental shortcuts, negative moods trigger more attentive, careful thinking paying greater attention to the external world,” writes Forgas in the November/December edition of Australasian Science.”

- ABC News

pollen nation

pollen nation

(via tofuttibreak)

(via tofuttibreak)

wedding pills

wedding pills:
more intimate than rings…

non-photoshopped image of woman appears on the cover of women's weekly shock horror

non-photoshopped image of woman appears on the cover of women's weekly shock horror:
before we know it normal looking women will start appearing in the streets, in shops, in places of work. what is the world coming to?

"Jumpcut is a freeware Mac application that provides “clipboard buffering” — that is,..."

“Jumpcut is a freeware Mac application that provides “clipboard buffering” — that is, access to text that you’ve cut or copied, even if you’ve subsequently cut or copied something else.
